Freedom

the caged lion sniffs the air
barrier lifted 
freedom is a step away 
an unknown concept 

we rush out headlong 
embracing perceived freedom 
yet hopelessly lost 
in idealized pursuit

What we humans perceive as freedom is often the chain that binds us. Those of us that live in north America are probably some of the least free people on the planet. I like your poem, it stimulates thought.

Im checking this form....so I can use lines of 11,5,3,7... syll in any order (?). And when you said to add a philosophical statement...do we have to add it as part of the poem or as a footnote?
