Poet's Notes About The Poem
(Show Details...)

This is about my father when he was a youth..He was going across the woods to a neighbor's place where they were having a dance..He saw a glowing in the woods ahead and was frightened out of his wits..He started running back toward home and when he looked around there was the fire that was stationary but one was up in the air chasing after him..He started back running even faster then started to hear a human voice..Now you know the rest of the story..Sara

Yikes! The dark can make one feel fearful of almost anything when stoked by the imagination. Lights, and for myself, sounds. Once on a gravel road I'd heard someone following me, stopping at the exact same moment as myself...It had been super cold and my pants were frozen. Anyhow...that certainly would have been a tale to share, Sara!:) Love, Mikki

I like how you shaped your words physically and the way you shaped the emotion within the words. Good job Sara

This is an especially fearful write, love the gripping fear within it! I do have to say though this is a wonderful write it isn't quite true to form! I thought you should know my friend as I would want someone to tell me about a mishap! The last line of the Vignette has three syllables not two like you have in your poem here! Sorry to bring you this bad news my friend, but this poem is quite good as it is, just not what Nette will be looking for exactly! I hope I didn't offend you! Great Work!!

A true gem, Sara...wish I could enter one of Nette's contests...I admire and respect her genius and call her my good and dear friend but I get brain freeze on the poems she asks for!...I may give it a shot tho..The Simon & Garfunkel poem I posted was for one of Carolyn's past contests...honestly I felt a bit guilty about posting it even tho it was re-edited...I felt it dis-respected her somewhat...I am considering deleting it...
