An Orchid for my Rose

Your eyes lead me to the Rose
that within your heart your soul,
yet it is the orchid chose
that leads me here, a mind stole
in dreams of the perfect goal.

Now lost am I to you Rose
a loser in mortal shame,
inept another I chose
took a chance on just a name
because life said ‘one of fame.’

Alas this lesson I learn
it’s not how one sees the frame
the truth within this I yearn,
for i am the one to blame
for dousing our true love’s flame!

Such a sad tale Harry, lessons to be learned that somehow are forgotten. When will we wake up? At least you can admit where the blame lies.

And so the fire no longer burns. Leaving an aching heart that yearns. A funeral flower for the grave. Of a love you could not save. Beautiful sentiment Harry.

Harry - Orchid or rose, it does not matter when your words make them equally beautiful..and I don't believe a true flame could ever burn out. We may bank he embers, but we are never lost in the quatraine! You are amazing Harry! Never stop writing, please please!! Elizabeth

The Orchid can be so alluring, we sometimes think the exotic is so appealing and that the Rose is ordinary. Our Silly silly hearts are so easily distracted. Another thought provoking poem.

Sounds like a remorse that one can rely on for a lifetime Harry - I wouldn't call it a total loss - I like how you use the orchid visa viz the classic rose - J.A.B. %

Well-written, forlorn poem, 'arry -- you did a fantastic job poetically highlighting the path so many choose....when all along 'twas the Rose shining with love's truth.
