The Last Dance
Could I please have this last dance?
For it could be my last chance
To hold you close and feel you sway
Like you did on our wedding day
Fifty years have passed since then
For fifty more I have a yen
Hope this will not be our last
The years have seemed to fly so fast
Our children dancing on this our day
See the grandchildren they sway
The girls they sway just like their mum
Boys like me dance really bum
A golden dance I wish to share
Let them all watch I don’t care
A kiss to end this thrilling night
Then home to bed to hold you tight
After all these years with you
I will pray as I always do
That in the morning I will see
Your smiling face look back at me
For once that light at last goes out
I will die I have no doubt
Then in that place were spirits go
Each other again we will get to know
