Inevitability

I walk these city streets alone,
all day searching, I am a drone
The rats drive by in their cars
Wheels spinning fast
they know not where they go, only that they are late, out of time,
As we all....

The sounds of my city
the symphony of melancholy
the concerto of terrible happiness
the irony of it all,
And time ticks on...

I walk to absorb, what others cannot see
To hear the laughter, and the cries
The babies dying and the elderly living on
I go unnoticed about my quest
Spying on the lives, as the clock counts down...

Inevitability is what this way has come.....

Sometimes there are many rats on ship! lol i like your observations and the sense the poem gives you of walking hand in hand with your experience. Justin
