You Know Who You Are

You Know Who You Are

You are the Prince of impudence
and impertinence -
Your mind a tangle of genius...
the temperament of a
child spoiled to a fine edge
of damnation.
Tongue honed to a fine edge,
meant to flense those
who displease you.
The ooze of oil that
lacquers you, shines like
a gem that will not be
excised from its dross.
You challenge and rebel.
Quicken, and lay in your
sanctuary, refusing to join
the world and its ordinary
boredom.
Drawing blood delights you.
Besting the innocent, your
driving need.
What wonders spew forth
from your pen...stunning the senses.
I will take up my shield and wait
in the redoubt for your thrust and parry.
