About This Poem
Mr Rogers in diminished hexaverse and inverse diminished hexaverse or whatever
The man was so sweet,
wearing tennis shoes
and rumpled sweaters,
calling us neighbors
as though we were friends.
Remember him?
His TV show?
His gentle voice,
calming and slow?
Oh, the days,
long ago,
when we laughed.
Silly,
don’t you
think?
Or
do you
suppose
it matters?
Nice is so
old fashioned.
Must we be snide,
unruly folks,
to impress folks
who aren’t so?
Consider the weight
of your words, actions
and how you behave.
Be a good neighbor.
