What Lies Beneath

What Lies Beneath What lies beneath? The ground under our feet Stands a dark world that resides there? Waiting for the perfect day to appear Today when the ground broke It left us with a knot in our throats Because we knew that the gates of hell Had just gotten out of its rotten shell Now the darkness we’re used to Has even a darker hue What will pop out from the shadows? No one will ever quite know Until we’re standing face to face With something that didn't show its trace Though it’s there waiting to give us our turn To throw us to what lies beneath into a fire that burns….
Don't get scared now!! Happy Halloween!!!

As a geologist, I love to study what is down under us. As a poet I applaud you for this poem. Just the right blend of scary image and warning.

YES!! I love this my friend! You are coming up with them frequently now and I for one am enjoying the "HELL" out of them! No, I don't get scared that much on Halloween but this poem is a little scary, ya know what? I love that! I love a good scare, a frightfest we'll have to do one night! Give me enough advanced notice and I'll create a lot of Halloween poems and we'll put a lot online all in one night, we'll flood Poetry Soup with them....maybe Halloween Eve, the 30th? Anyway, Awesome Work!!
