About This Poem

The Shepard Called Our Soul

Let's not lose sight of who we are,
Let's strip off all this wool!
Inside ourselves is where we'll find
The shepard called our soul.

Hullo Anne. I read your comment -- I believe that I have not ever left a comment on your poetry before. I really enjoy the theme of this 'shorty'....actually, its brevity lends it more. I've been practicing brevity this year because I can ramble on and on(I just don't post the majority of my new 'poem-poems' since some time last year, which is ironic, because I end-up posting mainly remixes, fun poems, or more rambling prose). I couldn't agree more with your message here. Well done.

If I'm reading this right our soul is our shepard. I like the idea of taking responsibility for our problems and situations. Short but sweet, great work.

Anne; This is short, but sends out a strong message. I always say - our body is just a cover up. Our soul is what we should keep cleam. Thanks for sharing This with us. Lucilla

tell me more, what inspired this piece of poetry?

I had intentions of making it longer at one point in time... But I like it short and to the point. What inspired me was my moral values. I am not a religious person, but I consider myself to be spiritual. So, I just wanted to depict cleansing ourselves and looking inside of our soul for guidance!

we are all connected to the source, when souls get free, we die, and in the astral meeting course, seek happiness there-n-by

Perfect rhythm! Although I have to say, it makes more sense to me as a religious poem.

I suppose it can go both ways- it has a moral value behind it but- the "sheprard" depicts our soul, not a higher power. Thanks for commenting :)

It could be religious or self reliance... Either way it's great to read some thing like this.

I keep clicking on poems and I have seen them all, so I am landing on this one again. It's so short for a ballad, but I absolutely adore this one of yours!

Having gotten to know you a little recently, I am nothing short of impressed by this work! You pretty much expressed what we briefly chatted about in like four lines. The writing is great, but the fact that you see this clearly enough to write about it is one of the most beautiful things ever. You should be proud of this work and yourself. Wise beyond your/our years!

Yes, we all are who we are to a great extent. I hope to keep my principles intact. It's not always easy--I am sure you have experienced the attraction of a temptation or a distraction. This is what stripping off wool makes me think of.

The light is there inside us all. I believe it was lit from a livery stall. My only hope for my salvation. Is when God sent his reclamation.
