About This Poem

recess is over

as the school bell rings
children are shrieking with glee

    recess is over.

          a sudden rain of bombs leaves
          the playground deathly silent


Inspired by Catie Lindsey "Contemporary Haiku" 
(which can be seen with the senryu I had  posted beneath this one)

    Thinking of the thousands of Syrian children that are dead when I read this one...and humanitarian aid was all that could be provided...it angers me to no end!!...I love this poem and the sudden shift at the end...fabulous double word play with "leaves."     Oh shucks....another read that I read that made me feel the message--I had just passed by Ruben's wheelbarrow tanka. This leaves one with such a dull ache of sadness... .. What a contrast you've put in here! I hope you're having a good day! Hugs to you!

    sad thoughts....lately planes have been flying low over our house and it gives me the jeebies when I hear planes for some reason.
