Warmth

wound around himself
purring to her heart's rhythm
the gray cat sleeps on
mom doesn't need a sweater
as the wind rattles the panes

Wow! I'm getting interested into this tanka form, knowing it little by little through your wonderful expressions. So simple and tender and expressive! Masterpieces, Debbie! Love, Hanitra

I am dropping by to see wot Doobie is ta-tanka-ing now. Enjoyable feel-good message with a decent pivot too. Can read the lines from bottom to top and the tanka still makes sense. I suppose the emotional response of the 2nd part is a bit more subdued? Cut away some of the unnecessary fat(syllables), and your tanka becomes that much better(I took the liberty of doing so in my mind, and the tanka truly becomes better). Good stuff, Doobie~!

This paints a nice, comforting picture, Debbie. The warmth of a cat on the lap as winter comes rolling in - I like it - meow.
