The sugarcane rules

                                      
                                               the sugarcane rules!
                                       cut the stem and the plant lives
                                               flame it up with fire
                                     and the sprouts come out laughing
                                       …thus remains my love for you.

    Who knew that love could be as resilient as the sugar cane. You have said a lot here in just a few words. I have certainly found love to be sweet like a sugar cane.

    Beautifully done, Vicky!...I live in south Louisiana very close to sugarcane country...we used to go to Grande Isle and stay week-ends and always passed thru the sugarcane fields...all kinds of quaint little stores and other stops...loved it!...Congratulations to you - Tim

    Leo Larry sort of stated my intended comment below. Yeah, this is a very unique tanka, and I enjoy how you employed a romanticist theme(the best early tanka were meant to be romanticist poems). Best wishes in the contest. Hey, if anything, enter this tanka into the 'serious' tanka contest(most recently posted). Shouldn't be a problem with entering it somewhere else as well.
