About This Poem

Tree and Scarecrow

Tree in barren land can’t be right Done growing, it dies more each night The limbs sway and sure look spooky Kids walk by looking for candy But finding no hope, only fright Near this old tree, barely in sight A scarecrow, scaring with delight Standing, producing fear proudly Tree and scarecrow The head of the scarecrow is light A pumpkin with eyes that shine bright It complements the dying tree It’s just what people surely see When going past these sights tonight Tree and scarecrow

yes, scarecrows can be pretty creepy. It's funny, Russell. Today I taught a FAll lesson to some students and we discussed scarecrows.

I just feel those eyes following me. Love your poetry. I want to visit Iceland, rocks, volcanoes, and the mid-Atlantic Ridge. One can stand in Europe and NorthAmerica at the same time. Sounds intriguing to me.

I can imagine walking by this eerie tree and the scarecrow with glowing eyes stirring at me watching me walk. Love it!!!! This poem gave me goosebumps! Great job! Hugs, Gail
