About This Poem

GETTING ON - autumn

GETTING ON - autumn

three big white ducks
waddle into our backyard
omen?

like pollack splashes
flakes of gold crowd everywhere
sudden chill

a subtle change of mood
beautiful eerie silence
reflection

cat in the window
just looking out
sensing

Hey Daver! Whoa...never heard of a duck omen.:) They'd come by to see you cause they know you're kind! Enjoying this write, Daver...the last verse with the cat "looking out, sensing" adds to this "errie silence". Ah, I love autumn! Thought of you today, a big marmalade cat walked past Kiwi who'd been taking a leak. Kiwi finished quickly and walked over to see the cat, when it stopped to fix the dog with a 'look', Kiwi turned about and got busy looking at other things.:) Love you! Mikki
