Yesterday, Now
Yesterday I sang,
Now I listen.
The violent past shaketh the skin I wear,
The race has disfigured these breathing
spaces.
Yesterday I thought,
Now I hear,
They speak of war heroes and their budget
share,
Riddles of politicians who feed on tales and
implement on beings.
Yesterday I walked,
Now I stand
Watch the war of expression, discomfort
and discontent.
Love: a tale they knew, inherited and will
be told.
Yesterday fires,
Now beautiful lights.
South Africa.
