About This Poem
I Stand In Prayer
I stand before you Lord,, I stop, I pause, I halt
and lay bare my very soul
stripped of my vanity and earthly pride
I have been humbled, I have been saved,
been blessed with a new song in my heart
for those with ears to hear . . .
I have faced the angel of death
with no fear in my heart for you held my hand
ready to take me home
my lighthouse, my true north star. . .
I promise, for the gift of life given
to repose in peace and harmony
I seek no other God, no glory, no reward . . .
I cast out any devil and hate worshipers
you have no strength
pitiful, weak and suffering endlessly trapped
my power is beyond your gnarled fingers
my light is from within
strong, bright and clear for all eternity . . .
It is where beauty dwells
not of face, hair or body but of soul
the beauty resides within
and like a beacon leads the way . . .
I stand before you Lord, erect and true
full of new promise and new life . . .
