Nesting Behavior

She doesn't want a wood framed mattress
Made of thatch and thorn

She wants a nice soft feather bed
For her babies when they're born

Her mate constructs a noble nest
And sees he crafts the very best

She'll incubate the eggs she'll lay
He'll chase foraging prey away

The embryos beneath her chest
Keep warm and gestate as she rests

Her mate alert surveys the yard
And constantly remains on guard

Nesting behavior is wonderfully penned. To safeguard the eggs before the babies come out, the art of taking care of them is well described with this poem. Enjoyed this nice one. Loved always, bl
