About This Poem
My Quiet Place
I love this room. It is my own personal library.
In this room are books I have had since I was
A child. All of the books we bought and read
To our children are here. The Very Hungry
Caterpillar is still munching after thirty years.
There are over six thousand poetry books in
Various languages, from the ‘classical’ poets
To some of my friends on the ‘soup’ and of course
My own. I am not a huge novel reader, more
Biography or auto- biography, I fitted a mahogany
Floor many years ago, so my music floats around
The room like surround sound, very relaxing indeed!
Music drifts, envelopes my head,
As the feel of leather
In my hands, takes me back in time
A room for any weather
The room is like a time machine
Dipping my toes in times
Past, leaping into the unknown
Living a life in rhymes.
