Dreams

They torment me from the moment I lay to rest;
Exposing my greatest fears and insecurities.
Lest I forget and suppress the pain in my chest,
My dreams would surely remind me.

With their tricks they mock my humanity;
Unpacking all that I’ve put away.
With their tricks they play me scenes to mock my sanity;
Thinking I’d be better off that way.
They tell me truth and they tell me lies
All knotted with each other.
Leaving me at great demise
And all my happiness a plunder.

I cannot tell you all my dreams I know you’d understand
And I fear they may be right;
Even with the visions I reprimand,
They’re replayed here in plain sight.
