1991

I don’t like this bus
It smells
It smells red
And old
And rickety

Full of dreams
So old they’ve
Gone stale

And from the window
I can see only
Thorns – miles
And miles of
Thorny cactus plants

I want out!
Let me out!

When the thorns pass

Betty, thank you for sharing this poem. It is so full of imagery and provides a vivid sense of being on that bus. Great writing. Stephen.

Betty, I love the way you incorporated the reality of the bus with life itself, well done..David
