Sifting

Old dreams lie upon the heart's dusty shelf,
beaten and forgotten by time's immortal grind.
Memories erode from the rivers of daily change,
while precious thoughts escape from the human mind.

Life sifts through many moments of sorrow,
leaving tear shaped stains upon the weary soul.
Yesterday's voices echo through each tomorrow,
creating a blossom of pain from loneliness' hole.

Each experience offers a taste of heaven's wisdom
to those who open up their muffled ears.
But many humans choose selective hearing,
so they can hide behind misty childhood fears.

Human faces soon join death's parade,
marking the world with a marble name.
Silent spirits surround he proud graveyard,
glad to be freed from faulty human blame.
