About This Poem
Self Contempt
Shadows of doubt invade my space
Questioning the morals of my acts
How can I begin to defend myself
Being confronted with the basic facts
Self-contempt and jealousies
Have kidnapped my mortal soul
Righteousness and purity
Appear as conflicting goals
The words “I’m sorry” cannot be found
Right when I need them most
I find myself sitting all alone
Abandoned by the Father, Son and Holy Ghost
It wouldn’t hurt me so much
If I didn’t love her so
If only I could forgive myself
And simply let her know
