Tracks in the Dust

On the loneliest road, far away
A memory walks in the sun
Of a boy who travelled with none
In a place that he wished not to stay
Searching from dawn's light to grey
For traffic of life to outrun
On the loneliest road
Now grown, he walks in the fray
In the bustle of things to be done
In a street too crowded to run
He wishes he had just a day
On the loneliest road

I see this one won a contest! Not at ALL surprised. The first two lines grabbed me and wouldn't let me go, and the last line tied it all together perfectly. To answer your question, yes, I am a huge Beatles fan! John Lennon has been a hero of mine since I was a little girl. You don't know how many times I've wished for a time machine, since he was killed before I was even born. Such a shame.

oh, man, yours is so much better than mine. I took the "light" route, and hopefully a bit humorous. (but not posted yet) I am sure Nette is going to love this one.
