BOY this is really good writing!! I have one like this except they all die. Loved your happy ending on yours. Can't believe I finally found one way down here that I had not yet seen, and it sure was a good' un.

Quick! Get a publisher!!! I love the second and fourth verses especially, no, EVERY stanza is a work of genius! Again, free flowing yet tight composition, glorious imagery and deft rhyming. I could hear, smell and taste every syllable... COOL BEANS! Love Keith

A fine seafaring tale, well told. It reminds me, slightly, of some of Longfellow's great poems. Nice work. Kind regards, Robert.

Yes - to be read while listening to Debussy's La Mer or the storm movement from Scheherezade. And then the prayer of thanksgiving from Beethoven's Pastoral. The last four lines are marvelous, give the whole a mystical gray look. You be de greatest! Love, daver

I never get sick of reading this. In my opinion it should be featured every week, so no one misses it. Where's the suggestion box?

Michelle, this is why I read poetry like a miner panning for gold ... every now and then the river exposes a load that makes the heart cheer ... this is an amazingly excellent write, I love it. Congratulations on being featured ... indeed great poet!

This is really beautiful. I'm really jealous of your ability to create perfect cadence and rhyme... My poems seem to always be really choppy and disorganized. I also love the image of the sea gathering her voice... It makes me think of roiling clouds gathering... Also thank you so much for your comments on my poems! I really appreciate them.

Unique and very interesting... Most often than not, nature gets to be positively depicted in run of the mill poems, this is an exception. With the way the 'orchestra' harmonized and the way it reached powerful climax, it seemed like the spellbinding ordeal was even a conspiracy forged between the sea and the gulls and the wind, to devour the sea shanty at last. That's how I see it anyway, and this really is a very ingenious poem. Have a great day! Ryan
