About This Poem
One Last Sunset Kiss
We’ve been sunset chasers ever since we were wed
Sprinting in our car to capture that perfect moment
As the earth and sky kissed each other goodnight
My eyelids close as I meditate on swirls of albacore prisms
Engulfing the last remnants of the sun’s waning light
You were my prince and I your beloved bride
Here we are-- a stranger, me, and you in a majestic hot air balloon ride
Soon there will only be two …as I honor your last wishes
Scattering your ashes against marmalade and burgundy hues
Let me savor this moment,... our last sunset together
Before our time on this earth as husband and wife is through
