Empty Trade

Reflecting on life
in the darkness of night,
eyes drift about
inquiring clarity’s insight

Darkened corners
hold yesterday’s dreams
pressed smoothly
against tomorrows seams

Stifled intake
of sobs quickly clinched
Smothered pillow
holds tears unquenched

Morning light
through slotted shade
Spears empty corners
an unwelcomed trade

I like Toquyen's sentiment. It's nice when we can feel God's presence. It's always there, but we get so lost sometimes before we reach out to him. Great poem though Debra. The poetic angst of someone's soul is what puts the pen to paper. I'm glad you revisited Alone Together. I wrote that with you in mind you know. Remember?

Debra, .I like the way your poem is personalizing and focusing on moments we dare to keep shut in. I think the real empty trade are the reflection of choices we dwell in... this is an awesome marvelous write.. thank you for stopping by my latest poem. It means a lot to me...xox pd
