Damn

Three simple words, forbidden to say,
You really don't want to hear them anyway.
Just close the eyes, hold the breath,
Those simple words to utter find death.

A gentle kiss, the words bubble again,
"I want to be more than a friend,"
Oops did I just say that?
 Awe... It was the cat.

I'll make a joke, poke fun,
Maybe he won't notice the damage I've done.
Never again! To feel my heart seep red,
Never again! How they burn to be said!
I thank you God for your strength! Really! I do!
 I didn't say, I love you........
 d*mn!

This poem made me smile. I, at times, must hold my tongue. Of course, I feel that at my age I can say what I want. My wife, the wise one of the family, knows better.
