I liken myself to a dragonfly

I liken myself to a dragonfly Settling with papery rustle To briefly watch The world go by Then to flit away In a hurried hustle To settle anew And to anew espy To gaze about In wide-eyed wonder I try to take it all in Again…before I fly The wonder of water The sound of thunder I perceive through the eyes Of the dragonfly I hear the flowers Each and every one I taste the wind I absorb the sun Tis only human I am But in my mind I cause my form to morph… into another wondrous one I liken myself to a dragonfly With parchment wings And faceted eye The better to see All things that matter to me And fathom the scheme of the sky

A fantastic write, David! I love the imagery and rhyme scheme. It flows beautifully. One for my faves! I can't wait to read more from you, and I thank you for your kind comments on my haiku today. Love and Blessings, Rhonda

wow, this is awesome work. I also like the way you made really small lines with the rhyme at the end of each small four-line stanza. Some great imagery, such as the parchment wings and faceted eye. A poem to enjoy MUCHO.
