the skeleton tree

the skeleton tree
the grimm reminder showing
the future of me

the skeleton tree
natures voice without a choice
showing what i'll be

the skeleton tree
avoiding the ax and death
old age all that's left

as I was checking out the winners' lists I happened to see your name there - I told you this is good, I like the rhyming in it, people say rhyming haiku is a big no-no but what do they know? haha I actually think haiku reads better when it rhymes, congrats :-)

A wonderful series of haiku John. Just got back from a week of holidays and a the last week babysitting and now a week at the shop. Life seems busy and computer time seems hard to find time. Thanks for your comments.Seen peaks of all kinds and while riding I was inspired. God made a beautiful planet. Hope all is well with you. love phyl

three very nice haikus, and as a bonus they rhyme somewhat, usually something that is more common to Senryu, but I think it really works here also. Good write John!

all the brilliance of the other one condensed into haiku form (equating barrenness with the skeleton tree, that was a stroke of genius) I like these personified trees, I did a couple of them, elm and yew, but our trees are always sad ones, well apart from my yew which was a bit evil haha
