Unease

It’s the way your eyes light up when you see her,
How a smile blooms on your face.
It’s the way you look at her (when you think I’m not looking),
And how she holds your gaze.
It’s the way you talk to her,
How you always sound like you’re high,
And the way you hug her tighter,
When it’s time to say good-bye.
It’s the way you refuse to tell me
Anything that she said,
And the way your eyes look distant
When we’re together later in bed.
It’s the way you take your ring off,
And “forget” to put it back on,
And the way my heart is squeezing,
Knowing you’ll soon be gone.

Susan, oi.... you better be talking about his mother... or his daughter... but, after reading the end of your poem... I'm disgusted by men some times.. It is funny how they think we are not looking, and it does not hurt... Shame on them. If whom ever your talking about in this poem, moves on,,it is for the better. I would never hold on to a man with other intentions. Besides me and his own.. Well the image in here reminds me of that movie planet of the apes.. Have you ever seen Marks, eyes.. He's all distant ... this is a great poem.. Good luck in the contest...pd
