About This Poem

Anna

...inspired by M by Seamus Heaney

Her cranium, its bumps and hollows
cradles secrets stored beneath,
neurons firing, never tiring
of their journeys to belief.

Thin vibrations mold, embolden,
prophecies, cunabula
suffuse the soul, engage the spirit
of the tortured Akhmatova.

Oh my God, your first stanza gets the heart beating. You capture that Irish store of the dark and deep in words begging to be read. Heaney is another favorite of mine. love, Kathy

I had to google this one to see it was a Russian woman you were writing about. I think she must have seen a lot of bad things in her lifetime but also wrote sublimely.
