Pay The Cost

They came so undone
To a journey not yet begun
United forces,shackled feet
City life from a back street

They all lived too fast
Thought they were unsurpassed
Visious circles,lives incomplete
Til they faced lifes`just a big cheat

Inside my heart is breaking
Something slowly building..aching
We`ve not yet lived and learned
Until the day we mess up and get burned

The urge to be free and wild
Led them to a dark side of life..reviled
Ultimate freedom forever lost
Now they`re let alone to pay the cost

Inspired after seeing the streetchildren in Romania.Seeking shelter from the
cold down in the sewer systems beneath the streets..The youngest of them couldn`t had been much more 5 years old..

I have heard of this wretched situation 15 years back or so Arild and in the back of my mind I thought there must have been some improvement for them this is a truly disgraceful situation..! I hope that this write is effective in raising the awareness of their plight.

So many lost children who disappear in the sad horrors we manage to give them. I really was touched with your words Arild; wonder if you were there and saw this. Luv, Lizzie

An amazing write from you Arild. Thanks for sharing your heartfelt poem and bringing attention to the awful reality of the children you observed. It seems like a worldwide tragedy. So many of them are sold in to prostitution or slavery. Very sad...on a happier note, I hope you and Anne-Lise have a great vacation. Love and Blessings, Rhonda

Very heartbreaking indeed, Arild! This scene is quite common over here as well-- and then you also know of corrupt government officials. Shucks, where is the justice, huh? What's even sadder is the parents of these kids actually expect their children to be the ones to bring home some money. Sad indeed. And thank you for passing by my limerick :) That is so cool that you & Anne-Lise have a Filipina friend :D! Tell her I said "Ingat lagi!" that's "Take care always!" hugs to you and Anne-Lise :D

Heartbreaker, Arild. REminding me of the little boys in Brazil and so many other countries where this kind of thing happens. I can see how it affected you. (as for baths, why the heck did you change for a shower? Geeeez)

This is so very sad....so often we're caught up in the grief of children closer to home, but reading your profound verse reminds us that no children are exempt from the scourge. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Arid.. God bless. Love, Annalise
