About This Poem

Jaded

Jaded heart but softly weeps,
Beauteous love ever-after sleeps.
A travesty unfolds within the night,
No hero found to unease the plight.

Awaken not the fickle dragon’s scorn,
For she is pain incarnate reborn.
A treasure greedily secured,
Within the heart’s border obscured.

Come not with sword drawn,
Passion's embers art forgone.
Within the forlorn jaded heart,
Imprisoned is the tender part.

Forged with rod-iron steel,
At bay, thou canna feel.
Fire and brimstone secures the keep,
Jaded heart but softly weeps.

What an incredible display of emotion! Beginning and ending with the same phrase is very effective, and your vivid imagery and phrasing are so powerful! Well done, Lisa!! Best wishes, Keith :)
