About This Poem
Inner child
In the darkened soul of a thousand eyes,
Drowning from the tears it cries.
Obscurity conceals the monsters that hide,
The worst are the ones down deep inside.
Unfathomable in the soul of the inner child,
Something untamed and wild.
Brought on by a heartless bastard,
Many sad years mastered.
The evil scratches picks at the scab,
Hateful words that poke and stab.
Festering a poisonous hate,
Leaving this child in a fragile state.
So how does this child learn to love,
From bruises and a cruel shove?
To humble the monsters making them weak,
Present them with the other cheek.
