My daughter works withtheselittle ones that have cancer Ruben and I knit hats for their little bald heads to keep them warm. These few words bring the tragedy of short lives to a reality not often thought about. The sadness is heartbreaking dear friend.

Ruben this poem landed right where it should be #1. It is sad but an honest truth. I am just overwhelmed by this one. Can not express my thoughts the way I wish do. Thank you for writing this and entering it in the contest. Love, Carol

A bald child. . .the kind that lives with chemo I am assuming. Your last line made me break into tears. What a great poet you are Ruben. This is one of the most moving Tanka I have ever read. It is going into my favorites. Bravo my friend.
