City of the Damned

Upon a hill
high above
the maddening crowd
voices fade
become obscure
by the sounds of nature

Dreams
lift me up
among the swirling clouds
higher
than the troubles
down below

Clarity
even for a moment
opens window of my soul
Light
rushes in, dispells
ghosts of yesterday

Slowly
steadily
walking the path back down
returning to
the City of the Damned.
