Disappearing Dreams

Ten O'clock, ten years ago, the world didn't seem as strange.
Today, the dreams I had back then are completely out of range.
I woke up in the middle and I didn't know my name.
It seems the map got faded and the rules changed to the game.

The things I lost along the way, I cannot understand.
Like sand, they seemed to slip right through the fingers on my hand.
The things I saw that gave me hope have seemed to fade away.
Forcing me to change my course and find another way.

When clouds begin to fade away and show a clear blue sky.
And your pockets are still empty, you have to wonder why.
Is this all that there is for some, is it as hopeless as it seems?
Do we just wake in a foggy mist of disappearing dreams?

What can I say from this point on to reconcile this fate.
Before the winds of change blow in and my answer comes to late.
The world just keeps revolving and recycling all it's dust.
As we are left to live within a dream we just can't trust.

this is sad but also very real - that's what happens in life, unfortunately. i guess we have to come up with some new dreams. this poem has great flow and rhyme - nice job! ~ by the way, your "munchkin" line on one of my recent poems made me laugh out loud. you were 100% correct about it! thanks for the smile, which i'm still sporting.

hey there, Robert, I see you are out and about on poetry lane. Question for you. Should I keep my humpty dumpty title or change to this simpler one that just occurred to me: The Egg Beater!

Dreams come and dreams go, but only God knows. The future we want might not be en-store, because God has something for us more. I have not witnessed all my dreams come true, but don't forget that God has something for you.

I agree with Deb, things don't make you happy, we find happiness within. I don't pretend to have all the answers but sometimes I am happy and realize when I'm not it's usually my own fault. Yes, we need food and shelter but life is more than that. So my dear Robert, know that you give so much to all of us on Soup and what would I do without you! Love, Lizzie

I've decided that I need to find contentment in the state I am in...what will be, will be. God promised to meet my needs, not my wants. You wrote this well and I feel it's honesty and dispair...dream on, but find peace with where you are. huggss my friend !!
