My great-grandmother lived in a little green house
Down a lonely Arkansas road
I used to go and visit her there
On days when summer winds blowed

She told me stories of times long gone
And hours passed as I would watch
Her ancient hands open, piece after piece
Of sweet smelling butterscotch

    Very sweet poem, my friend! The scent of butterscotch always sends me back in time too. I wonder if it will be the same for kids these days - will the scent of Skittles affect them the same way?... :)

    Thank you, David...and I agree. I would like to say more here. I actually wrote this for the childhood memory contest. And yes, I think I will try a tanka!
