Patience
The world’s unfair at start
And so may be for a while or long
Yet to curse and quit do just hurt
And later regret ‘cause you were wrong.
And life’s not a touch and go
But a testing trek on rough a way
A journey with friend, a time with foe
Working by wisdom to stay.
And so you commit to stay at it
Though you be hit and again and harder
To be in the battle is only fit
And a win comes in wonder.
Today you try and again tomorrow
And though the results may not satiate
Your person and passion should know no sorrow
Patiently try again, and patiently wait.
It is that calm that keeps you on the move
Sometimes downhill, sometimes uphill
That trying with patience you finally prove
When bit by bit the measure you fill.
To be humble and composed and hopeful—patience
An art of heart to keep on ways
That often at last manifests difference
Orderly patience perfectly pays.
