Never Again

This is my resolve, this is my plan
To stop a repeat of past mistake
And live in peace with all when I can
And never again a misguided attempt make.

Enough is enough, I need no more
Of a careless hand and childish move
I take the counsel of years and lore
To be conscientious and maturity prove.

Never again will I compromise
Nude notions looking backward
I ever will flow the stream of the wise
Never quitting and ever working hard.

I never will boast but just pride
And always humble in responsible gain
To pursue a yearning for noble ride
And inane ambition, however pleasing, never again!

I again will never wish “if I had”
I’ll dream and do for potential I have
For ‘I wish I had’ is null and sad
And never makes challenge less tough.

Never again the fear for unknown
My bids I build on brave and bold
For what did I know before I was born?
I came out to meet the world.

Forever hope, no longer despair
Wielding the Spirit of Yes I can
The flame of my life to keep on flare
And carefully take on twist and turn.

Never again will I quit a deal undone
Nor will I adore ideas hidebound
Never again fanning fatuous fuss and fun
I’ll pursue profit and pleasure, wherever be found.

And forces of nature I’ll never again blame
(For I too form part of the force)
I’ll roll my ball and play my game
Never ruing again, but forward riding my own horse.

And never again will I fabricate fame
I’ll pride and humble in my score, for there will be
So they may remember my legacy and name
And find meanings for ‘Never Again’ in me.
