LIFES PRESERVATION

What has happened to lifes preservation,
to its salvation,
I said to my maker.
Man has become a voracious taker
without due thought,
what devastation has has wrought./

Why, why has life become so cheap,
so much so that the very heavens weep
as does the earths spirit down
to its very core's deep.

Are we not meant to be compassionate caretakers
and not implacable destroyers?
The sun-kissed breezes say so,
the birds on high swooping through the radiant sky
and the animals below say so./

The streams, rivers, flowers and trees
echo this sentiment with the bees.
Custodians wise of the earth and of all life forms
man should be not the bringer of premature death
and endless calamity./

Robert a pleasure to read your poetry today. I will try to come back later this week to read more. I have a spring cold and not up to reading for too long. Have a wonderful week. Love, Carol
