About This Poem

An unwelcome sight to early risers
faces soaked to the stigma
Footloose from bed wetting

Kentucky Blue lay dormant in a drought
Boat’s prepare to drop anchor
Sings the Blues’ in shower

The mating season, full blown chests croaking
Spring rain signals a choir
Pitter, patter, tadpoles

Heavy blossom signifies a good yield
Downpour strips colour from tree
Pink pools reflect white clouds.

Kentucky Blue is a grass with boat shaped leaves, likes the wet..

You must need an umbrella to write about these things.

A fascinating piece, subject to so many interpretations! One to be re-read several times. Well done, David!! Best wishes, Keith

I really enjoyed this. The second stanza is my favorite. A "blue" in Ireland is a redhead. I once was in Kentucky often. I am an equine scientist, dealing with the track in so many ways. I related to it on a different level. lol
