Heartdrop

He feels the guilt building up inside, Feeling the tears run down his face, Trying so desperately to make them stop, Because he knows it makes nothing better, Only wanting his love to return. She left so suddenly without a word, Sometime during the wee hours of morn, When he was but still fast asleep, Dreaming of the future they were to share, Never knowing that it would be lost in just one night. He awoke alone that morning, Wondering where she went, Looking around for any clue, Until his eyes fell upon the small object, That always hung about her neck, A heart drop. He picked it up feeling the smoothness of the stone, Watching it gleam as the light catches it, Filtering off a light glow, That reflects a heart upon his shirt. Years pass and yet he goes on, Still carrying the heart drop, Around his neck, Wondering if she'll ever return, And what emotions the encounter, Would dig up. He feels the pain gripping his mind, A deep hole in his heart, And the beeping of his silent soul, Clutching the small stone in his hand, Tightening his grip, As the voltage pierces his body. The last thing he remembers is her smile, So warm and inviting, And the sweet taste of cherries, When he kissed her. A solitary tear flows it's way down, As the stone warms his icy hand, For the last and final time, As he draws one last breath, Beneath the giant heart in the sky.
