About This Poem

Simile

A revolution without radicals
is like
squash casserole without squash.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh, and just so ya know, radicalism and violence are two completely unrelated terms.
    Very true Nancy. I much prefer no radicals to no squash. but, then, we would probably still be in Europe wouldn't we.
    I have found that free radicals can sometimes be aggressive and violent. Passive revolution doesn't work everytime, so I give my respect to the ones who are willing to sacrifice themselves when push comes to shove. Vive la revolution!
    Very well put, Nancy. Yes, unfortunately those last resorts have to happen at times.
    There are many forms of sacrifice, just as there are many forms of poetry. When push comes to shove in terms of justice, when push comes to shove in terms of compassion, when push comes to shove in terms of keeping it human... yeah, sometimes violence is justifiable. I believe it should be the last resort of defense.
