The Editor’s Hats

Part 1


I seize 
the instrument of 
death and with 
savage strokes 
and red gore 
purge the 
curse of banality
that is to me as 
nails on a 

Part 2 


I probe
painstakingly insert 
the edged tip
into bloated subjects
as my tool resects
necrotic sections
to expose
lusty vitality 
that warrants 

Part 3


I sneer
at groveling
as across 
a velvet rope;
puppet of 
the ruthless
status quo

Part 4


I select
with vindictive
only the fresh;
zealous guard
of the zeitgeist
dictated to the 
idiot masses
by the ruling elite

    nette, When i get huggs from the resident queen I am indeed under orders to write on! I cannot hope to approach your prolificacy but I might add a few interesting reads from time to time. Thanks for your encouragement. Jay

    this is wonderful! i love all 4 parts of it - so clever, sharp and true! i think you've really nailed all the hats worn by the editor very brilliantly!

    It was not all about rejection. There is some hope that one day at least something will get through! Maybe even you or me. :-)
