ANGELS DESCENDING

Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers,
for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

                                                                                         Hebrews 13:2

                            _______________________

Our fierce defenders and God’s envoy,
Angels descending, bring from above*
a war cry for peace and then deploy
echoes of mercy, whispers of love*

Angels descending, bring from above*
Michael’s sword and Gabriel’s blessing,
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love*
And Truth now reigns, hear it professing.

Michael’s sword and Gabriel’s blessing,
United, justice and charity sing,
And truth now reigns, hear it professing
prayers for the earth in the rustle of wings.

United, justice and charity sing
a war cry for peace and then deploy
prayers for the earth in the rustle of wings,
Our fierce defenders and God’s envoy.

*Angels descending, bring from above, echoes of mercy, whispers of love
From Blessed Assurance By Fanny Jane Crosby (1820 - 1915)

This is terrific! My favorite line is, "prayers for the earth in the rustle of wings". I'm glad I stopped to read this one. Blessings, Rhonda
