Ruby ribbons of flaming pain enlace her tortured toes;

She trance-dances with sinuous fire, satin thorns spiking her feet -

Applause anaesthetizes, red roses burn in her arms.

    My wife took ballet as a girl and still remembers the pain. Well captured in this one Charlotte.

    Charlotte, oh, this one will place very high. The language is staggering, as is the imagery. You told an entire story in three lines! Wonderfully done. Thanks for your comments on my entry. It was hard to write the About this Poem and keep it more 'journalistic.' I wanted to just present the facts... but when I read them myself I cried, horrified. Hugs to you, Cyndi.

    Smile ˜ Ahhhh, there You Are * I've been thinking about Your Beauty ˜ This sounds as though possibly a lovely ballerina twirling and swirling in tiny circles of joy to please the crowd as reaching unto the stars to gather their smiles amid the applause * A sweeet Swan yet in need it seems, of a bit of ice to alleave the pain at the end of the weekends double matinee's shows * Poor girl, if I could id take her another bouquet of red red roses and give her a big wet kissss * Smile, I love beautiful ballerina's ˜ My love, Always, John!:) *
