Mephistopolis

Blank stares
Rule
The ashen night

Fires burning
Though offering
No warmth

An exchange
Yet only
Of goods and services

Is this home?
Does home exist?
Where?

Societies mirroring
Clever corpses
Of which they are composed

Empty shuffle
Of cold stone feet
Echoes through the bazaar

Even beasts puzzle
When
The dead stir
