About This Poem

A Beach Spa for My Feet

I push my feet blissfully into smooth sun-kissed grains of sand. Taking my feet abruptly from their fun, down to the shore I run. Warm briny sea caresses them; they splash like happy children. Written by Andrea Dietrich Inspired by nette onclaud's ON YOUR FEET Poetry Contest Note: The 2-sijo version is posted below this one.

Liked the happy children line. It's too adorable to think of your toes as "tiny you's"... hahaha... I ADORE the beach (though I live a ten hour drive away from it)... *sigh*

I did the same with my feet. But the frozen sand did defeat. Any joy that I could possibly obtain. The locals said I's crazy. I don't know, it's kinda hazy. But I think that I must truly be insane.

Nice looking sijo, Andrea..I struggle with this form..I wrote one last spring and thot it was great...it was just too nerdy for my own good!..Congrats on your haiku thriller that tickled Linda's fancy. I loved it when I read it too. Congrats!!..Got great news for you from my long long meeting today...a stress headache from staring at the screen too. ughhh. Gwendolen :)

i'm not sure what a sijo means and both of yours are pretty excellent Andrea. if one have to choose, hmmm... i might go for the first version. it gives me more sensation, so's to speak

you did a great job of combining the two sijos andrea, actually I think I prefer this version; LOVE the image of those feet splashing about like happy children! :-)

Made me feel warm & wonderful on this cold winter day. I can't wait to put my feet in hot sand. Great poem. Thanks.

I Love it. It reminds me of last Saturday, I took my family to New Smyrna Beach Fl. We did a whole lotta this running on the shore and much more!

So carefree and fun! Could this be a new poetic figure of speech, childrenizing. I like that, a simile comparing your feet to playful children and you went from one fun to another. I think we all should be childrenized then everything would be more fun!

ANDREA, i'm a spoiled brat mom... i get my feet done.. every other day... and not by Nathan... ha ha... good luck in the contest,..p.d.
