only to keep you

Something I stood on, without remorse
Trampled on your ability, your natural elation.

For a past I regreted, the harm in your life
Now I hope the contention remains.

Your showcase a lie, in private your weak
My fault from childhood, keeping me able.

Selfish and jealous I will stay, until we become one again.

No longer the beast who crushed your soul
The only one who can return your vigor.

In my desperation, i hope fears hold
Conserve your touch, abide with me.

Keep your pain from yesterday, Until we become one again.

A warm welcome to PoetrySoup I offer to you Suni. I wish for you the best in your writing endeavors whatever they may be. May you find inspiration by reading some of the poetry written here by other poets. Read and comment on their's and they will return in kind. May the sun shine on you that you might find great joy in your life. Love, Carol
